Occupation:AON Corporation | Senior Vice PresidentDedicated Memorial Sites:Reflections:The New York Times Portraits of Grief
Alan W. Friedlander was a senior vice president at insurance giant Aon Corp. on the 93rd floor of the south tower. Aon had more than 1,100 employees at the World Trade Center. Friedlander was among 200 killed.
He and his wife, Helen, who continues to live in Yorktown, last spoke the night before the attacks because he left for work early on Sept. 11.
Friedlander graduated from Stuyvesant High School. He received an engineering degree from City College of New York and his Master of Business Administration degree from New York University.
He loved planning vacations, photographing the figure-skating competitions his wife liked to attend, and bicycling. He once bought her a bicycle. The two met at a Gristede's market in Manhattan, where he stocked shelves and she worked at checkout. (source)
